Obituary for Luther Leon Barker

Luther Leon  Barker
Luther Leon Barker, resident of Patterson, Arkansas departed this life on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from the Arkansas Continued Care Hospital of Jonesboro at the age of 69. Mr. Luther was born in Fisher, Arkansas on January 20, 1954 and was the son of Henry and Sarah Lou Taylor Barker.

Mr. Luther was a high school graduate of Weiner High School. He and his family owned and operated Barker’s Café. The Café first opened in Fisher in 1966 and later in 1992 they opened in McCrory serving the communities with their Sunday buffets and fried fish plates. He also was employed through the McCrory Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer. He enjoyed camping at Heber Springs, deer hunting and spending time with his dog, Lady. Mr. Luther had a giving spirit, always there for his parents and being the best Uncle to his niece and nephews. Many that knew him have said he was a jack of all trades but a man of a few words.

Mr. Luther is preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Sarah Barker; three brothers, Norman Barker, Stacy Barker and Jesse Barker.

He is survived by his nephew, Devin Barker and wife Amanda of Jonesboro, and great-niece, Sims Barker; his uncles, J. R. Taylor of Harrisburg, J. C. Smith of Harrisburg, his aunt, Margie Henderson and husband, H. M. of Fisher; a sister-in-law, Peggy Barker of McCrory; numerous cousins, and close friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Barker, J. R. Taylor, J. C. Smith and H. M Henderson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 25th at Fisher Cemetery with Bro. Cecil Fuller, officiating.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Fisher Cemetery P. O. Box 163 Fisher, Arkansas 72429.

There will be no public visitation.
